Burma
The Swedish Foundation for Human Rights has for a long time supported civil society actors and human rights defenders within the democracy movement in Myanmar/Burma. We attach no value judgment to the use of the name Burma rather than Myanmar, but follow the terminology used by our partner organisations. The overall aim of our partnerships is to strengthen the capacity of Burmese civil society to continue resisting the military junta, to work for respect for and protection of human rights, and to create conditions for future accountability and justice for human rights violations. The focus areas are the rights of women and LGBTIQ+ persons, as well as transitional justice. Our current project is financially supported by ForumCiv.
